I don't know exactly what this is, but I'm guessing they're not stripping the track itself that contains the DRM key. AFAIK, nobody else has a compatible option either.Īnother issue with TunesKit is that it produces files that work almost everywhere without issue, but have a slight issue with a corrupt text track. So if you have a Mac still on Sierra, you can use it, but not High Sierra (unless you dual boot or VM). However, with High Sierra, something radically changed and TunesKit is still not compatible with High Sierra. It's unclear if TunesKit (and others) are being targeted or if it's just an issue with non-API changes breaking compatibility.įor the most part this has meant that you hold off on updates to macOS or iTunes for a week or so until TunesKit is updated. It's a cat and mouse game with Apple where Apple will release new versions of iTunes or macOS, and TunesKit may need to be updated. The result is quality that is indistinguishable from the original (unless you also want it to transcode). TunesKit strips the DRM (as opposed to doing screen recording). I can only speak towards the Mac version as I've never used the Windows version. It works well, but there are some caveats. TunesKit I've been using it for a couple of years now.
